It is with great sadness that we announce the death of James L. Starr Sr. (Monticello, Iowa), born in Aledo, Illinois, who passed away on April 20, 2024, at the age of 53, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by : his pet Chico; and his parents, Francis Starr and Carolyn Starr (Willett). He is survived by : his children, James Starr (Tabatha), Jessica Miles (Kody), Tiffanie Contardo (Doru), Christopher Roney (Rachel), Zachary Starr, Alec Karnick and Austin Starr; his grandchildren, Gavin, Aspen, Bailey, Abigail, Camille, Ian, Ruger, Dawsyn, Madilynn, Kaden and Waylon; his close friend Eric Loney; his siblings, Lori Nash (Jeff) and Bart Starr; his parents-in-law, William and Wendy Carpenter; his in-laws, David Carpenter, Christina Hahesy (Rick) and Joseph Carpenter (Christy Parrott); and his wife Tracy Carpenter. He is also survived by his family and friends, especially his grandkids.

The military honors was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 7:00 AM. Visitation was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Goettsch Funeral Home (514 W 1st St, Monticello, IA 52310-1301). A prayer was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 7:00 PM at the same location.
