He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Hoskey and Maxine Hoskey (McCoy); his brother Rex Hoskey; and his siblings-in-law, Dale Bohnsack, Coleen Hoskey, Marsha Hoskey and Jack Kupka.
He is survived by: his wife Geri (Ridout); his children, Paula Fontinel (Damon), Wesley Hoskey (Gina), Kitty Jo Tysseling (Jim) and Melodie Easter (Charlie); his grandchildren, Blake Fontinel (Danielle), Bridget Mitchell (Cory), Jesse Hoskey (Kalie Weuve), Aaron Tysseling (Megan), Anna Fett (Matthew), Ben Tysseling, Ellie Easter and Ethan Easter; his great grandchildren, Grace Fett, Maren Fett, Asher Tysseling, Ada Tysseling and Truett Mitchell; his siblings, Roberta Bohnsack and Richard Hoskey; his siblings-in-law, Skip Ridout (Rose) and Deet Kupka (Dave); and his pet Sally.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 24th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Kruse-Phillips Funeral Home (209 E 7th St, Tama, IA 52339). A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the Redeemer Bible Church (207 S Main St, Montour, IA 50173). A burial will be held on Friday, September 25th 2026 at the Maple Hill Cemetery (3221 Hwy T47, Montour, IA 50173).
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made in Gary's honor to the Tama County Humane Society, Redeemer Bible Church, or Iowa River Hospice.
