He was predeceased by: his brother Bradley Joe "B. J." Gooden; his grandparents, Clell, Evelyn Norton, Hubert and Susan Gooden; and his father-in-law Russell Coleman.
He is survived by: his mother Connie Kay Norton Gooden of Bloomfield, Iowa; his wife Shannon Gooden; his daughters, Katy Nelson (Drew) of Floris and Madalyn Gooden (Nicholas Holtkamp) of Salem, Iowa; his grandchildren, Drake and Violet Nelson; his parent Jesse Gooden; and his siblings, Scott Gooden of Lakeland, Florida and Christina Gooden of Bloomfield. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, and cousins.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established to his family.
