He was predeceased by: his parents, Don Downing and Dorothy Downing (Horton); his parents-in-law, Pete Smith and Edna Smith; his sisters, Patsy Baxter and Charolette Edwards; his brother-in-law Phil Edwards; and his son-in-law Bill Whitaker.
He is survived by: his wife Freda Downing (Smith); his daughters, Rhonda Whitaker, Kimberly Duszynski and Tracy Welch (Randy); his sister Barbara Evans (Darwin); his brother-in-law Kenneth Smith (Marge); and his grandchildren, Channing Whitaker (Kristy), Devon Houser, Richard Duszynski (Mariah), Kaitlyn Butler (Shane), Ethan Duszynski (Lexi), Calvin Welch (Crystal), Chaz Welch (Megan) and Christopher Welch (Ginny). He is also survived by sixteen great-grandchildren; one Great-Great-grandchild; as well as many nieces and nephews.
