With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Michael A. Bonar (Mount Pleasant, Iowa), born in Fort Madison, Iowa, who passed away on March 12, 2020 at the age of 61. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his father Robert D. Bonar. He is survived by: his mother Arlene A. Bonar (Henschen) of Mt. Pleasant; his siblings, Pam Tipton (Tom) of Mt. Pleasant, Steve Bonar (Jackie) of Burlington and Scott Bonar (Leigh) of Phoenix; and his nieces and nephews, Jennifer, Morgan, Chase, Brandi and David. He is also survived by five great nephews.

A memorial has been established for the Notre Dame High School Athletic Department in his memory.

“I am so sorry to hear of Mike's passing. I have so many fond memories of growing up with him --playing baseball in St. John's parking lot and then later during our high school years at Notre Dame. I can still picture his lanky frame walking out of St. John's for lunch as he and I were one of the few who lived nearby. And of course, his accident at the beginning our senior year...
