With solemn hearts, we announce the passing of Dorothy Rilett of Mount Vernon, Iowa, whose presence will be deeply missed, having departed on December 5, 2025 at the age of 98. Family and friends are welcome to send flowers or leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Mildred Shewmon (Griffith) and Joe Shewmon; and her brothers, Paul and Bruce Shewmon. She is survived by: her children, Kathy Pisarik (Larry) of Cascade, Chris Bullis (Bob) of Colorado, John Rilett (Jan) of Missouri and Phil Rilett (Sherry) of Missouri; her grandchildren, Laura Oswald (Nate), Brice Bullis (Erica), Erin Horsman (Scott), Luke Pisarik (Emily), Kelly Walsh (Steve), Brett Bullis (Julie) and Kyle Rilett (Shirley); and her great grandchildren, Elise, Vivian, Eleanor Horsman, Lilly, Elin, Beckett Walsh, Michael, Olivia Rilett, Grahm, Lane, Elizabeth Pisarik, Kellen and Jericho Oswald.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 from 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM at the United Methodist Church of Mount Vernon (304 1st St W, Mt Vernon, IA 52314). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, December 13th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
