With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Dave Matthews of Muscatine, Iowa, who passed away on May 18, 2026 at the age of 82. Leave a sympathy message to the family on the memorial page of Dave Matthews to pay them a last tribute.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Matthews and Virginia Matthews (Carlson); his stepfather Lowell Foster; his brother John Matthews; his grandmother Dolly Flemming; his aunt Germaine Lundquist (Russell); his parents-in-law, Sam and Rose Weaver; his brother-in-law Leonard Weaver; his cousin Barbara Muldrew; and his niece Shelly Weaver Griffiths.

He is survived by: his wife Carol Weaver; his daughters, Staci and Megan; his grandson Elias Roller Matthews (Emily Walker) of Iowa City; his stepbrother Douglas Foster (Cynthia); his brothers-in-law, Ron Weaver (Julia) and Dick Weaver (Marlene); his nieces and nephews, Tom, Craig (Deb), Jerry, Troy Weaver (Shanna Lee), Kristine Weaver-Miller (Mark), Erin Jordan (Kevin) and Amber Foster Smith (Jeremy); and his cousins, Rob and Dave Lundquist. He is also survived by numerous extended family, friends.

To honor his memory, in lieu of flowers, do as Dave did: do a good deed for a neighbor, shovel a driveway, mow a lawn, be kind to everyone, do something active, brighten someone's day, build a snowman, build a rock tower, quote Thoreau, watch the sunrise….
