He was predeceased by: his parents, Gordon Giddings and Lottie Giddings (Hansen); his daughter Judith; and his brothers, Merle and Floyd Giddings.
He is survived by: his spouse Trieva "Trix" Bowman; his children, Steven Giddings (Deborah), Linda Giddings, Caroline Giddings and Paul Giddings; his grandchildren, Katie Bott, Hannah Bott (Brad Knudson), Aaron Giddings (Nikki), Amy Senn (Gene) and Alexandra Giddings; and his sisters-in-law, Jeanette Giddings and Shirley Carlson. He is also survived by nieces and nephews and many other extended family.
A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 11:00 AM at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services (2907 Mulberry Ave, Muscatine, IA 52761). A burial was held on Friday, September 4th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Evergreen Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, Memorials in Robert's name may be made to the Iowa State University Foundation, for the College of Engineering.
