He was predeceased by: his parents, Jans Arends and Etta Arends (Deraad); and his siblings, Gary, John, Donny, Roger Arends, Elizabeth Tegtmeier, Edna King and Ester.
He is survived by: his wife Elisabeth Arends of Nashua; his sons, Michael Arends of Scottsdale, AZ and Gary Arends Jr.; and his sister Mary Jane Pickett of Marble Rock. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the St. John Lutheran Church - Nashua (300 Merril St, Nashua, IA 50658). A funeral service was held on Friday, October 3rd 2025 from 11:00 AM to 11:30 AM at the same location. A graveside service was held on Saturday, October 4th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 9:30 AM at the Sunnyside Memory Gardens (2267 Old Highway Rd, Nashua, IA 50616).
