Bonnie Nellie Smith Obituary
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Bonnie Nellie Smith (Nevada, Iowa), who passed away on October 21, 2025, at the age of 103, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Harry Allen and Mabel May Fry Tripp (Fry); her husband Lester VanDellan Smith; her daughter Susanne; her sisters, Shirley Robinson and Gladys Rhoads; her daughters, Leslie Wilkening, Sheryl Niemand and Sandra Garner; and her grandchildren, Kelly Lee Garner, Keith Niemand and Karl Niemand.
She is survived by: her son Jim Smith (Diane) of Ames. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Collins Christian Church (303 Main St, Collins, IA 50055). A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 27th 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund - Play4Kay in memory of Bonnie.
