He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert Braaksma and Harriett "Jeannett" Braaksma (Williams); his grandson-in-law Kevin Wick; and his great grandchild Ashlin Knuth. He is survived by: his children, Todd Braaksma (Toni) of Ottumwa and Christine Forret (Jason) of Indianola; his grandchildren, Josh, Serena, Kat, Kyle and Emma; and his brothers, Ron Braaksma of Monroe and Curtis Braaksma (Jann) of Lynnville. He is also survived by 7 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials to ABATE of Iowa can be brought to the service or left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
