Phyllis left this world on October 16, 2025 at the age of 99, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. She was predeceased by: her parents, Fred Darland and Emma Darland (Hawk); her husband Gerald Ferguson; her parents-in-law, Cope and Gladys Ferguson (Shoemake); her sister Jean; her brother-in-law Burl Grubb; her nephew Kim Grubb; her great grandchild T. J. Goemaat; and her siblings-in-law, Earl, Bob, Jim Ferguson, Shirley, Colleen, Fran and Audrey Ferguson.
She is survived by: her children, Connie Hanssen (Ed) of Davenport, Tom Ferguson (Marilyn) of New Sharon, Steve Ferguson and Randy Joe Ferguson (Kris) of New Sharon; her grandchildren, Julie Brucculeri (Salvatore), Brian Hanssen (Katie), Tonya DeJong (Shawn), Tami Goemaat (Jon), Jeana Fisk (Jason), Jake Ferguson (Gwyn) and Sally Murch (Mike); her niece Deb Gray of Cedar Falls; and her siblings-in-law, John, Bill Ferguson and Nancy Ferguson of New Sharon. She is also survived by 19 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Sunday, October 19th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Coble Funeral Home (308 W Maple St, New Sharon, IA 50207). A funeral service was held on Monday, October 20th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Lacey Methodist Church (205 Broadway, New Sharon, IA 50207).
Memorials may be made to the Lacey Methodist Church or Mahaska Serenity House.
