He is survived by: his wife Joan Smith; his children, Brenda Scovel (Tim) and Bryan Smith (Laura); his son-in-law William "Bill" James; his grandchildren, Daniel Llewellyn (Margaret), Bryan Llewellyn (Robin), David Llewellyn (Shala), Jeremy James (Carly), Marie Rodriguez (Juan), Shannon James, Courtney Scovel, Zachary Scovel (Autumn Peacock), Cole Smith (Calli), Alisha Reinert (Teddy) and Trevor Smith (Taylor Dougherty); his great grandchildren, Bailey, John, Rose, Lilly, Hazel, Ryder, Ty, Nora, Grace, Josie, Preston and Emma; and his sister Macyl Harlow.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Overton Funeral Home (501 W Ashland Ave, Indianola, IA 50125). A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church (101 St James St, St Marys, IA 50241). A burial will be held on Monday, October 13th 2025 at the St. Marys Cemetery.
