Shirley leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Shirley’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Shirley will carry forward her memory in their hearts.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Gilbert Gluesing and Madeline Gluesing of Newhall; her husband Eldo Meyer of Garrison; and her brother Ronald. She is survived by: her sister JoAnne Phelps of Arizona. She is also survived by her two sons, four granddaughters, six great-granddaughters and four great-grandsons.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Mark Lutheran Church (101 N Walnut Ave, Garrison, IA 52229). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the St. Mark’s Lutheran Church. A burial will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 11:15 AM at the Garrison Cemetery. A reception will be held on Wednesday, September 30th 2026 at 11:45 AM at the St. Mark Lutheran Church (101 N Walnut Ave, Garrison, IA 52229).
A memorial fund has been established to benefit St. Mark’s Lutheran Church and the Garrison Public Library.
