She was predeceased by: her parents, W. Avery Humes and Alice Leona Humes (Roberts); her husbands, Virgil Chance and Boyd Ladd; her sons, David Ladd and Timothy Chance; and her grandson Nate Chance.
She is survived by: her children, Cheryl Gifford (Curt), Virgil Chance (Judie) and Toni McCabe (Greg); and her sister-in-law Judy Humes. She is also survived by 13 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 16th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (1115 E 19th St N, Newton, IA 50208-2539).
Memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Animal Rescue League of Iowa can be left at the funeral home.
