He was predeceased by : his parents, Clifton "Mike" Hoyt and Dorothy Hoyt (Mahl); and his brothers, Ronald L. Durant, Richard Durant and Reagan "Junior" Durant.

He is survived by : his wife Judy Hoyt of Newton; his sisters, Marilyn Cox of Riverton, Sondra Rater-Ratliff of Ankeny and Kathy Sevenbergen (Keith) of Newton; his godchild Kelsey Lynn Ambrose of Des Moines; and also Millie. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
