We bid farewell to Donald Max Jay of Newton, Iowa, whose journey of life gracefully concluded on May 12, 2025 at the age of 96. Donald Max touched countless lives with warmth and kindness, leaving behind cherished memories that will forever echo in hearts. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Bernard Jay and Ruth Jay (White); and his brothers, Ray, Richard and Giles.

He is survived by: his wife Verla Jay of Newton; his children, Don Jay (Christy) of Adel and Jana Jay Malen (David) of Stowe, Vermont; his grandchildren, Holly Foarde, Heidi Myers (Robert), Jennifer Harvey (Casey), Daniel Zelman (Dominique), Zachary Zelman (Rachael) and Rachel Zelman; his great grandchildren, Kaleb, Rosaleigh, Eli, Hannah, Sam and Levi; his sister Patricia Pettingill of Waukon; and his sister-in-law Tomma Lou Jay of Grinnell. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorials to an Animal Rescue League of the donor's choice may be left at the funeral home.
