She was predeceased by: her parents, Leonard Toopes and Laura Toopes (McDowell); her stepfather Joe McGrath; her son Michael Joseph Kearney; her brother James Lee; and her siblings-in-law, Chris Toopes and Steve Arnold.
She is survived by: her husband Mike Kearney of Newton; her daughter Amy Peterson (Duane) of Newton; her grandsons, Michael Peterson (Joe Orstad) of Des Moines and Matthew Peterson of Newton; and her siblings, Lenny Toopes (Dee), Bob Toopes, Carol Arnold and Greg Shelford (Holly). She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorials to St. Mary's Cemetery or Wesley Life Hospice can be left at the funeral home or at the church on the day of the service.
