He is survived by: his wife Judy Modlin of Newton; his sons, Rick Modlin (Bev) of Ankeny and Craig Modlin (Darla) of Newton; his grandchildren, Tim Modlin (Christine), Kelli Buskovick (Heath), Chrissy Patterson (Jeremy), Matt Modlin (Karly), Ryan Modlin and Brandon Modlin; his great grandchildren, Henry, Elliot, Elmer James, Abbi, Caden, Jaxon, Isabelle, Lily, Ryker, Blakeley, Lainey, Mila, Teegan and Asher; and his brother Jim Modlin (Lynda) of Pella.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (1115 E 19th St N, Newton, IA 50208-2539). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials will go to a bench in Elmer's name.
