He was predeceased by: his parents, Robert "Bob" Kirchhoff and Cecilia "Kriss" Kirchhoff (Krzywicki); his daughter Michelle Capman; and his parents-in-law, Bob and Phyllis Preitauer.
He is survived by: his wife Linda Kirchhoff of Newton; his daughter Melissa Sommars (Jim) of Newton; his son-in-law Terry Capman of Altoona; his grandchildren, Mikayla Capman, Kennedy Capman, Corbin Capman, Kyle Sommars, Chad Sommars (Ashley) and Kacey Sommars; his great grandchildren, Jade, Jasper, Jordi, Sophia and Jimmy; his siblings, Mark Kirchhoff (Marilyn) of Omaha, Karen Stuyvesant (Bob) of Carlisle, Jim Kirchhoff (Lynn Stoffregen) of Dubuque and Ron Kirchhoff of Peosta; and his siblings-in-law, Nancy Herrald (Lary) and Steve Preitauer (Marie). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory (1115 E 19th St N, Newton, IA 50208-2539). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 29th 2026 at 10:30 AM at the First Presbyterian Church (220 N 2nd Ave E, Newton, IA 50208).
Memorials to Newton Dollars for Scholars or the Mission Cancer Foundation may be left at the church the day of the service or at the funeral home.
