He is survived by: his wife Cynthia Poots; his children, Mitzi (Scott), Todd (Marta) and Christin (Glen); his grandchildren, Preston, Matthew, Clayton, Zachary, Haley, Mandy and Torey; his great grandchildren, Trice, Michael, Sage, Ember and Tobin; and his brother John Poots.

Memorials to the United Presbyterian Church, the Jasper County Historical Museum, or Newton FFA may be left at the funeral home.
