He was predeceased by: his parents, John Maher and Hilda Maher (Leonard); and his wife Marilyn Kelly. He is survived by: his daughters, Michelle Maher (Richard Smart) and Stacia Reader (Tom); his sister Patricia Patterson (Clare); and his granddaughters, Matilda and Eloise Reader.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 2:30 PM at the Pence - Reese Funeral Home (310 N 2nd Ave E, Newton, IA 50208). A rosary will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 6th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery (2901 S 12th Ave W, Newton, IA 50208).
