She was predeceased by: her parents, William George and Dorothy Mary Zook (Miller); and her sister Mary Beth "Betsy" Criswell. She is survived by: her husband John Burns of Newton; her children, William "Butch" Helm (Kristi) of Des Moines, Matt Helm (Carol) of Alabama and Alesa Pierce (Jason) of Mingo; and her siblings, William "Buddy" Zook, Jr. and Laural "Lolly" Griswold. She is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
