He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd Clevenger and Jane Clevenger; his sister JoAnn Justmann (Herb); his parents-in-law, Wilber and Coleen Robson; his brother-in-law Ray Smothers; and his nephew Wesley Robson.

He is survived by: his children, Mia Hoeft (Bill) of Coralville, Greg Clevenger (Teresa) of Solon, Drew Clevenger (Gretchen) of St. Ansgar and Jason Clevenger (Alicia) of Johnston; his stepchildren, Cassie Cook (Travis) of Colfax and Justin DeVoe (Sierra) of Prairie City; his wife Caren DeVoe; his stepgrandchildren, Morgan, Rachel, Will, Jarod, Katy, Jackson, Walker, Carter, Hannah, Joe, Matt, Lauren, Henry, Mira, Maggie, Emma, Emily, Quinton, Braxton, Kinley and Jayda; his sister Barbara DeHaai (Dean); and his siblings-in-law, Bill Robson (RuthAnn), Joe Robson (Joy) and Jan Keenan. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
