He was predeceased by: his parent Elmar W. Toppenberg; his grandfather Morgan Wenthe (Austin); his mother Caroline Toppenberg (Smith); his daughter Christen; his siblings, Jackie Lee Toppenberg and Randy Toppenberg; and his stepsisters, Christine and Cynthia.
He is survived by: his wife Nancy Toppenberg of Newton; his children, Carol Dexter (Royce) of Urbandale, Cheryl Piotraschke (Dennis) of Johnston and Brian Toppenberg (Terron) of Norwalk; his son-in-law Brian; his grandchildren, Lauren Dexter, Braden Dexter (Aleena), Alysen Dexter, Carissa Miller, Aaron Piotraschke and McKenzie; his great grandchildren, Aubrey, Norah and Nolan; his sister Stanly Chaloupka (Duane) of Loveland, Colorado; and his stepsiblings, Judy, Jerry, Jan, Debbie and Nick.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Community Heights Alliance Church (2500 S 13th Ave E, Newton, IA 50208). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials to Community Heights Alliance Church Missions may be left at the church the day of the service or at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory.
