He is survived by: his wife Lori Neuhring; his sons, Brandon Schmidt (Ashley), Jeremy Schmidt (Cambria), Steven Schmidt and Austin Schmidt (Bailey); his grandchildren, Kaiden, Kinsley, Carter, Ryder, Emersyn, Jack and Kamden; his sisters, Dianne Schmidt and Dawn Hansmeier; his niece Tara Theisen (Austin); his great-nieces and great-nephews, Juliette, Sienna and Wesley Thiesen; his nephew Daniel Hansmeier; his brother Brad Schmidt; his parents-in-law, Robert and Diane Neuhring; his brothers-in-law, Brad Neuhring (Joan) and John Tolzman; and his nieces and nephews, Stone and Blade Tolzman.
In his passing Douglas was able to give the gift of donating his organs to those in need.
