In loving memory of Rita M. Smith (North English, Iowa), born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, who departed this world on May 22, 2026 at the age of 76. She was predeceased by: her parents, John Scanlon and Mary Scanlon (Ryan); her daughter Tammy; and her siblings, Mary Kinyon, Cecelia, Patricia, Theresa and Edward.
She is survived by: her husband Lewis E. Smith; her children, Ruby Morehead (Jeff) of Williamsburg, Tanya Smith of Parnell, Shawn Smith (Kathleen) of Rapid City, SD, Jennifer Roberts (Nate) of Waukee and Jeremy Smith of Parnell; her grandchildren, Kathryn, Caroline Morehead, Spencer Ford and Adalina Roberts; and her siblings, Kathleen Webster of Ely, Maureen Carson of Solon, John Scanlon (Vickie) of Cedar Rapids and Jim Scanlon of South English.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Powell Funeral Home-Williamsburg (407 N Highland St, Williamsburg, IA 52361). Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 28th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the same location. A Mass will be held on Friday, May 29th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the St. Mary Catholic Church - Williamsburg (102 E Penn St, Williamsburg, IA 52361).
