He is survived by: his children, Vicki Smith (Gene) and Mike Woods (Kathy); his son-in-law Ron Stoermer; his grandchildren, Amanda Wicker (Darin), Megan VanGundy (Alan), Aaron Smith (Heather), Kirsten Smith, William Woods (Jacque), Alec Woods (Gina), Daniel Woods (Tessa), Lindsey Birmingham (Ryan), Jake Madsen, Keith Stoermer (Kelli) and Dani Stoermer; his great grandchildren, Amelia, Mason, Hudson, Ella, Xander, Bella, Wyatt, Kade, Benita, Mara, Garrett, Lorelei, Lily and Alex; and his pet Patty. He is also survived by extended family and many special friends.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Park Avenue Christian Church (3219 SW 9th St, Des Moines, IA 50315). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 12:00 PM at the same location.
