She was loved and cherished by many people including: her parents, Major Scott and Lillian Newton (Glew); her children, Dennis Gilson (Lynn) of Marion and Cathy Gilson of Oelwein; her grandchildren, Jeffrey Gilson (Erin) of Marion, Amy Gilson of Marion and Jodie King (Larry) of Cedar Rapids; her great grandchildren, Alaina Gilson, Kaden, Ethan McCormick, Reagan, Jordan Gilson, Gabe and Maia King; her sister Arlene Zimpfer Sanford of Mansfield, Ohio; her parents-in-law, Vern and Minnie Gilson; her husband Virgil Dale Gilson; her son David Lee Gilson; her granddaughter Melissa Gilson; and her brothers, Darwin Newton and Dale Newton. She was also cherished by several nieces and nephews.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, social distancing and masks are suggested at the visitation and service.
