He was predeceased by: his parents, George DeLong and Helen DeLong (Hungerford); his son Stephen DeLong; his brother Kenneth DeLong; and his son-in-law Brad Richards.

He is survived by: his wife Mari Ann Shreve; his children, Jeffery DeLong (Juanita) of Cedar Rapids, Ann Richards of Rochester, MN, Jo Beth Nehl (Lee) of Hazleton and Lisa Hamilton of Oelwein; his grandchildren, JoliAnn, Joshua, Jeremy, Rhiannon, Kate, Claire, Lydia, Luke and Lauren; his great grandchildren, Jaxton, Avenly and Graham; and his siblings, Gene DeLong (Florence) of Oelwein and Alice Mangan (Roger) of Littleton, CO..

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.
