He was predeceased by : his parents, Clarence Rickels and Martha Rickels (Behnken); his former life partners, Carolyn Rickels and Jean Rickels; his siblings, Juanita, Deloris, Velda, David, Rex, Virgil, Jerry and Russell; and his pets, Doomer, Duke, Ranger and Booner.

He is survived by : his wife Carolyn Dose; his children, Jenny Rickels (Ryan Haggerson) and Michael Rickels (Lacey Tipton); his grandchild Madison Rickels; and his siblings, Donna Joslin, Roger Rickels (Kathy) and Darrell Rickels.

The military honors was held on Friday, April 19th 2024 at 9:30 AM at the Olin Cemetery (3572 IA-38, Olin, IA 52320).
