He was predeceased by : his parents, Alva Carter and Lolita Carter (Estes); his siblings, Marvin, Dean, Madelyn and Shirley; and his grandson-in-law Josh Heisdorffer.

He is survived by : his former life partner Thelma Lyden; his sons, Bobby Carter (Chris) of Ollie and Jerry Carter (Tammy) of Palo, Iowa; his grandchildren, Kathy Heisdorffer, Tim Sampson (Karen), James Carter and Jake Carter; and his great grandchildren, Ava, Zoe Heisdorffer, Hailey and Liam Sampson.

Memorials may be made to the Ollie Fire Department or Prairie View Church.
