He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Petersen and Eileen Petersen (Thorp); his wife Joan Petersen (Belfrage); his parents-in-law, John and Helen Belfrage; and his brother Lawrence "Pete" Petersen.
He is survived by: his daughters, Ruth Petersen (Sherry Blevins) of Huntersville and Sarah Cordray (Nicholas) of Syracuse, Nebraska; his grandchildren, Nathanial and Samantha Cordray of Syracuse, Nebraska; and his friend Marty Petersen. He is also survived by many in-laws, nieces and nephews.
