She was predeceased by : her parents, Jesse Culver and Donna Fouts; her brother Roddy Parrish; her grandparents, Clarence Fouts and Marjorie Riley-Fouts; and her great-grandparent Clarabelle Riley.

She is survived by : her husband Kelly Funkhouser of Onawa, Iowa; and her siblings, Marla Maloney, Julie Morgan, Ronna Peasley and Robby Parrish. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews; several great-nieces and nephews.

Per Denise's wishes, her body has been donated to the Des Moines University Body Donor Program.
