He was predeceased by: his parents, Lawrence Ray and Winifred Ames (Jones); and his son Randy (Florence Whyte). He is survived by: his wife Ann Marie Kingsley of Oskaloosa; his sons, Steve Ames (Sherri) of Bella Vista and Alan Ames of Oskaloosa; his daughter-in-law Pam Ames of Spring Hill, Kansas.; and his grandchildren, Sara Ames, Adam Ames (Angie), Drew Ames (Deanna), Liz Pearcy (Nick), Ashley Stillman (Ryan), Jesse Ames (Meriaha), Kaitlyn Sheets (Hunter) and Dalton Ames.

Memorials can be made to the Gateway Church of the Nazarene.
