He was predeceased by: his parents, Jake Der and Delia Van Der (Wielaard); and his brother Carl Van Der (Wilma). He is survived by: his wife Vickie Van Klaveren of Oskaloosa; his sons, Curtis (Jeanna Van Der Wal) and Cory (Laura Van Der Wal) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Connor Van Der Wal, Cole Van Der Wal, Hayden Van Der Wal, Brecken Van Der Wal, Landon Van Donselaar, Hayden Van Donselaar, Owen Van Donselaar, Grayson Van Der Wal and Norah Van Der Wal; and his brother Jerry Van Der Wal of North Carolina.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Bates Funeral Chapel (114 S 7th St, Oskaloosa, IA 52577). A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 12th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the same location.
