He was predeceased by : his grandparents, Patrick J., Sadie Burke (Kilcullen) and Charles; his parents, Leo Joseph Burke and Lena Marie Burke Allgood (Swim); his stepfather John F. Allgood; his brother Michael Leo Burke; and his nephew Danny Johnston.

He is survived by : his former life partners, Martha Davis and Connie Stevens; his wife Vicki Winchester; his children, Christy Lynn Smith of Oskaloosa and Michael Burke (Elizabeth) of Oskaloosa; his grandchildren, Jonathan and Megan Burke; his sister Audrey Burke of Eddyville; his sister-in-law Sharon Burke of Marion, Iowa; his nieces and nephews, Dana Lynn Abell (Shane Buseman) of Sigourney and Justin Ray Abell (Becky) of Sigourney; his great-nieces and great-nephews, Hayley Sue Abell (Brett), Jasmine Marie Abell and Joselyn Ray Abell (Brock Ware); and also, Wrenlee Sue, Sherri Finders (Bill) of Oskaloosa, Jay Winchester (Janine) of Oregon, Bill McCourtney (Sherri) of Arkansas and Donald McCourtney (Lydia) of Arkansas.

Memorials may be made to the Shriners Children's Hospital, the Mahaska Health Hospice Serenity House, or the Iowa Chapter of the American Parkinsons Disease Association.
