He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Shaw and Lena Shaw (Waller); his siblings, Marcia Shaw and Scott Shaw; his in-laws, Betty and Marvin Whitaker; and his nephew Tony Whitaker.
He is survived by: his wife Sheryl Shaw of Oskaloosa; his daughters, Kristin Baumgarth (Eric) and Kara Foster (Mike) of North Liberty, Iowa; his grandchildren, Madden Foster, Miles Baumgarth, Olive Baumgarth and Jaxson Foster; his brothers, Joel Shaw (Chris) of Batavia and Jeff Shaw of Des Moines; and his siblings-in-law, Steve Whitaker (Nancy) of Ankeny and Kathy Shaw of New Sharon.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson's Disease Association Iowa Chapter, First Christian Church, or MHP Hospice Serenity House.
