He was predeceased by: his father Richard D. LaPoint; and his grandparents, Stanley, Florence Bales, Paul and Juanita LaPoint.
He is survived by: his mother Christena C. Bales LaPoint of Ottumwa; and his siblings, Jim LaPoint (Patti) of Ottumwa and Linda LaPoint of Oskaloosa. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
