He was predeceased by: his mother Freda Suther (Tegeler); his wife Doretha Dekat (Dee); his siblings, Ralph Suther and Mary Gerstner; his grandchildren, Mark and Marie Grebin; and his son-in-law Jim Grebin.

He is survived by: his children, Tim Suther (Peg) of Winnetka, IL, Laurie Masters (Mike) of Waverly, IA, Deanne Reiter (Curt) of Ankeny, IA, Pat Suther (Cindy) of Waukee, IA, Jerry Suther (Jodi) of Tiffin, IA, Sheri Thesing (Patrick) of St. Charles, MN, Mike Suther (Kim) of Marion, IA and Dave Suther (Susan) of Johnston, IA; his siblings, Joe, Vera Strunk of Wamego, KS, Betty Suther of Concordia, KS and Eleanor of Atkinson, KS; and his brother-in-law Alvin Gerstner of Topeka, KS. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren.
