He was predeceased by: his mother Bonita Joan Heldt (Pierson); his former wife Dawn Heldt; his sister Dawn Heldt; and his close friend Shawn Matson. He is survived by: his wife Carol Knechel of Parkersburg; his children, Erin Heldt (Dave Miltenberger) of Cedar Falls and Patrick Heldt (Ash) of Clarksville, Iowa; his stepdaughter Jennifer Knechel of Old Town, Maryland; his stepgranddaughter Raelyn Knechel; his father Roger Heldt of Aplington, Iowa; and his siblings, Brian Heldt (Debbie) of Harleysville, De Frey (Brock Heldt) of Parkersburg, Brent Heldt (Pam) of Dakota Dunes, Dor Heldt of Valley Village, California and Michael Behm of Hutchinson, Kansas. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
