He was predeceased by: his father Arthur Rothfuss; his parents-in-law, John Choat and Sue Lilly; and his brother-in-law Donald Richardson (Judy). He is survived by: his wife Linda Choat-Vaughn; his son Jason Vaughn (Donna Cox); his grandchildren, Trevor, Wyatt, Sierra, Reagan, Collin, Lauryn and Mother Alta Rothfuss; his sister Deborah Wisham (Joseph); and his sisters-in-law, Rebecca Sweeney, Peggy Bickel and Sandy Hobson. He is also survived by his nieces and a nephew.
Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 2nd 2026 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Garden Chapel Funeral Homes (1301 Main St, Pella, IA 50219). A funeral service was held on Thursday, September 3rd 2026 at 1:00 PM at the Third Church (708 E 13th St, Pella, IA 50219).
In 2016 he retired due to his Parkinson's diagnosis.
