He was predeceased by: his parents, James Zwarte and Nettie De Zwarte (Verros); his wife Beulah De Vries; his daughter LeAnn; his grandson Anthony Ray; his great grandchild Sarah Lunsford; his sons-in-law, Larry Gullion and Brian; his siblings, Ruby, Marvin De Zwarte, Raymond De Zwarte, Dorothy Ter Louw and Erma Steenhoek; and his siblings-in-law, Gilford Steenhoek, Apollas Ter Louw, Vernon De Vries, Annabelle De Zwarte, Marilyn De Vries and Mildred De Zwarte.
He is survived by: his children, Lila Gullion of Knoxville, Darrell De Zwarte (Rhonda) of Pella, Larry De Zwarte (Janice) of Knoxville, Sheila Van Donselaar (Jim) of Grandville, Lisa Rowe (Kevin) of Hudsonville, Tresa Koole (Tim) of Jenison, Lonnie De Zwarte (Danece) of Pella, Angela Tenbrock of Grand Rapids and Pamela Cleary (Mike) of Hudsonville; and his granddaughter Lori Lunsford (Randy). He is also survived by 53 grandchildren, 115 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Every Step Hospice in Knoxville, Iowa.
