He is survived by: his wife Linda Schwartz; his children, Joseph Schroeder (Elena) of Middleton, WI., Amy Casavant (Christian) of Dubuque and Sarah Schroeder of East Dubuque; his grandchildren, James Ploeg, Franklin Ploeg, Jasmine Schroeder and Joseph B. Schroeder; and his siblings, Jerome Schroeder (Linda), Jane Vollmert (Dale), Jean Huseman (Jerry) and Julie Flores (Cruz).
