He is survived by: his friend Judy Shearer; his sister Margaret Den Beste; his children, Scott (Renelyn) and Stacie Sanborn (Jen); his grandchildren, Dakota Ellett (Jacob) and Colton Sanborn (Julia); his great grandchildren, Lily and Luna; his niece Lisa Willis; his nephew Mark Houseman; and his aunt Joanne Blankenfeld. He is also survived by many cousins and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church - Perry (1100 3rd St, Perry, IA 50220). A funeral service was held on Saturday, May 2nd 2026 at 10:00 AM at the same location.
Memorials may be directed to a fund established in Gary's name.
