He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Wayne Book and Mary Book (Kautzky); his wife Shirley Jean Kulla; his pet Skeeter; his siblings, Joseph, Edward, Philip Book and Cecelia Gaudineer; and his siblings-in-law, Yvonne Book, Sharon Book, Sheryl Palmer, Sharon Easter, William Vranich, James Reves, Jary Gaudineer and Steven Porter.
He is survived by: his children, Stacie Hayes-McIntire (Loren) of Perry, David Crooks (Heather Moore) of Perry and Kellie Book Flanery (Tom) of Panora; his grandchildren, Ashley Oliver, Chad Oliver, Grace Hayes-Fulkerson, Conor Flanery, Jasmarie Flanery, Georgia Flanery, Coriander Morales and Raymond Woodall; his siblings, Marie Vranich, Rita Reves and David Book (Kathy); and his siblings-in-law, Alice Book, Sheila Nagel, Sherry Porter, Sharlene Staskal (Alan) and David Kulla (Michelle). He is also survived by 12 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A rosary will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory - Perry Chapel (1721 Park St, Perry, IA 50220). Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home, Perry Chapel (1721 Park St, Perry, IA 50220). A prayer will be held on Thursday, October 16th 2025 at 7:00 PM at the Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home & Crematory - Perry Chapel (1721 Park St, Perry, IA 50220). A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, October 17th 2025 from 10:30 AM to 11:15 AM at the St Patrick's Catholic Church (1312 3rd St, Perry, IA 50220).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for a designation at a later date.
