He was predeceased by : his parents, Martin Hinkel and Velma Hinkel (Carson); his wife Twylia Carrigan; his son-in-law Everette Durfee; and his siblings, Margaret Armstrong, Lucille Hinkel, Roy Hinkel, Ike Hinkel, Lynn Hinkel, Estal Hinkel, Barbara Sorensen and Lorna Tillisch.

He is survived by : his children, Marty (Janet) of West Point, Neal Vaughn Hinkel (Joyce) of Huachuca City, Joe Hinkel (Tami) of Omaha, Bobbi Durfee of Pisgah and Steve Hinkel (Pam) of Mondamin; and his siblings, Betty Johnson of Council Bluffs, Edna Hopkins of Woodbine and Dwight Hinkel (Karen) of Cedar Bluffs, Iowa. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren.
