He was predeceased by: his parents, Keith Lewis and Thelma Lewis (Treanor); and his brother Larry. He is survived by: his wife Julie Kay; his son Vaughn Lewis (Christy); his sibling's children, Amanda Mendoza (Roy) and Keith Lewis; and his great-nephew Milo Belmares.
Visitation was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Iles-Grandview Park Chapel (3211 Hubbell Ave, Des Moines, IA 50317). A memorial service was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A celebration of life was held on Friday, September 19th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM at the Moines Police Officer's Recreation and Training Building (5374 NE 12th Ave, Pleasant Hill, IA 50327).
