She was predeceased by: her parents, John Clinton and Greta Burkey (Harmon); her husband Marvin Benson; her half-brother Gale Burkey; and her sister Marilyn Osterhout.

She is survived by: her children, Connie Peterson (Greg) of Polk City and Alan Benson (Lois Kyle) of Madrid, Iowa; and her grandchildren, Lisa Friesen, Angie Geraghty, Ben Peterson, Ryan Benson, Tyler Benson, Krista Fitzgerald and Scott Benson. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild.
