He was predeceased by: his father Merlin "Mick" Hughes; his parents-in-law, Donald and Lois Edleman; his brothers, Dwain Morehead and Barry Hughes; his nephew Cale; and his siblings-in-law, Tracey Hughes and Ritch Skrivseth.
He is survived by: his mother Virginia Hughes (Mohr) of Preston; his wife Sherri Hughes of Preston; his children, Ashlee Jess (Scott) of Bellevue and Austin Hughes (Bethany) of Epworth, Iowa; his grandchildren, Cambree, Kylee, Hattie, Caroline and Drake; his siblings, Lynn Hughes (Julie) of Cedar Rapids, Chris Hughes of Maquoketa, Iowa and Lori Skrivseth of Preston, Iowa; and his siblings-in-law, Jan Teramae of Coralville, Iowa, Pam Teramae of Coralville, Iowa and Bill Edleman (Lynne) of Charles City, Missouri. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
